Water is life, but kills our electronics.  Oh, the irony.  Put your phone and/or valuables inside a waterproof pouch.

Why Do You Need This

Convenient & Secure

Convenient and secure way to carry your phone. Plus, you can store cash and a credit card inside, too.

Riding in the rainy weather

Riding a motorbike or bicycle in the rain and need directions on your phone.

Wet adventures

Beaches, waterfalls, kayaking, and the like. Oh, and the Thai holiday of Songkran, of course!

Passengers with baggage waiting in ankle-deep water close to the beach shore to board a boat. The boat captain gets front of the boat as close to the shore as possible, but passengers and their baggage will need to walk into the water to board the boat. This boat is a wooden long-tail Thai-style boat with 1 engine, and has an approximate capacity of 10 passengers. It is used to transport them from one beach to another in Ao Nang, Krabi province, Thailand.

The boat captain backs-up the boat as close to the shore as possible, but passengers and their baggage will need to walk into the water to board the boat. This boat - with 6 outboard engines - has an approximate capacity of 50 passengers, and is used to transport them from one island to another, all located within the vicinity of Bali Indonesia.

Waterproofing Needs

See the link for information on “Waterproof or Water resistant“.

Basically, if you are going to submerge your phone underwater then get a good quality waterproof pouch.  If you are just getting splashed with water (rain or Songkran holiday), then a cheap “waterproof” pouch works just fine.

A cheap “waterproof” pouch is questionable quality.  If you need waterproof, then is the extra money worth the risk of ruining your smart phone?  $20 extra for a quality pouch versus $ 150+ for a new phone?

Product Options

Fully waterproof and sealed pouch

Nite Ize water proof phone pouch

If you are going to go swimming or snorkeling with your phone, then use this pouch from Nite Ize.  This is the best quality pouch you are going to find.  The materials, the seal, and the durability cannot be matched.

( 1 ) Wearing it:

– Hang around your neck
– Tuck underneath your shirt

( 2) Put phone and/or valuables inside.

These pouches are marketed for your smart phone.  Though, just like the Concealable Waterproof Wallet, you can put other valuables inside.  Do note that for valuables this is not as good as the Concealable Waterproof Wallet – it is not as comfortable, as well concealed, or tethered to you.

Cheap waterproof pouch

These work really well, too.  But, it’s up to you if you want to trust them completely submerged underwater.  The Nite Ize phone pouch is rated for 1 meter (3 feet) below water.  The seal can withstand the water pressure, but the same cannot be guaranteed for the cheaper options.

These can be found all over SE Asia for a low price.  They are identical to the ones sold on Amazon.

A waterpoof phone pouch to protect valuables while adventuring with a lanyard to wear it around your neck. While it is made for phones, you can put anything inside that will fit such as cash, keys, and more. The intention is to use this when swimming, kayaking, standing under waterfalls, or any other wet adventure where you need to protect valuables from getting wet. This pouch is made of waterproof material, and has a clamp design to seal it, water-tight. This also prevent typical dirt and debri getting inside the pouch.

A waterpoof pouch is used to protect a phone & any other valuables you put inside of it. The pouches are made of waterproof material. The opening of the pouches have a plastic clamping mechanism to seal it shut, and keep it air/water-tight. This also prevent typical dirt and debri getting inside the pouch. The pouches are flat, and are big enough in size to fit a larg-sized smart phone.

Plastic pouch that’s sealed

You can buy these during the very wet Songkran festival for about $1 to $1.50 each.  You can trust that your phone and money will stay dry inside when splashed with water and squirted by water guns during Songkran.

A plastic pouch that is used to protect phones & other stuff inside from water. The pouches in the image are not fully waterproof. They have a flap that cover the opening. These are quite cheap in price. They are often sold during the Songkran holiday and word well enough for the most part. Songkran holiday is a holiday in Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand which involves splashing each other with water. Essentially, it is one massive water fight, and everyone gets soaking wet.
